Nach seinem Studium der Philosophie und der Ökonomie an der London School of Economics und der McGill University war Rafael Ziegler als Lehrbeauftragter und Lecturer tätig (McGill University, ECLA, FU Berlin) und als Vertreter der Professur für Umweltethik. 2009 initierte Rafael die Forschungsplattform GETIDOS, für die er derzeit im Projekt Cressi arbeitet.  2012 wurde er Mitinitiator der Big Jump Challenge - europäische Jugendkampagne für Gewässerschutz.
