GETIDOS is a social-ecological platform researching sustainable solutions, with a focus on social entrepreneurship and social innovation, and offering education on these topics. GETIDOS stands for "Getting Things Done Sustainably". The maxim is a call for innovative action - do something! - and situates itself within sustainable development as an open process.
Our research is transdisciplinary: it is problem-oriented and involves non-academic partners. Our approach is also transmediary: we draw on film and symbolic action just as much as on the written word for analysis and communication.
GETIDOS was funded initially from April 2009 to December 2013 by the Social-Ecological Research Programme (SÖF) of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). It also received grants from the EU and the Mercator foundation. GETIDOS is now on its way to being transformed into a platform for members of the BMBF research groups (at the University of Greifswald and the IOEW Berlin) and further people interested in working with us.
